Fanciers and historians believe that the Springer Spaniel was the foundation of all Spaniel breeds in England, which were not separated into their seven distinct variations until well into the 19th century. They are accepted in the colors of black or liver on white and vice-versa, as well as black and white or liver and white with tan markings. Sociable dogs who love company and attention, the Springer Spaniel is a cheerful and bold dog without aggressive tendencies. They like to have something to occupy them, and if nothing presents itself, they will find diversion, even if it means the mud or water.
