Dachshund Gifts

One of the many breeds to originate in Germany, the Dachshund was developed for pursuing the badger into its hole, thus the name, derived from “dachs” which is badger in German. The short, strong legs allowed it to dig at the burrow, and body type allowed it to enter in search of its prey. They were bred on purpose to produce the long, hanging ear to protect them from seeds and insects entering the ear, and also for the long, curved tail which was often used to haul a dog out of the badger’s burrow.
