The CKC in Canada however, retains the Belgian Shepherd designation, although to confuse things further, they were once known under the single title of Belgian Sheepdog. | (continued) A medium size dog with some box-type structure, the Belgian Tervuren measures from 21-26 ˝ inches at the withers, with a weight of 45-65 lbs, according to sex. Its thick, double coat requires regular grooming, but does not mat.
The extra coat care required by a Tervuren is the least of a new owner’s concerns, although it can be time consuming. Attention needs to be paid to proper socialization with people and animals, which establishes the owners as pack leader to be obeyed. They are a highly intelligent and energetic dog, which means they must have an outlet for their drives, or suffer the consequences in the form of destructive behaviors. Alert and ever watchful, a dog that is not properly socialized can become nervous and reactive. © DogDecor.com | | | | |
