| | | | | | | | Affenpinscher GiftsOne of the many breeds to have originated in Germany, the Affenpinscher dates back at least 400 years, although the average dog was 2-3 inches higher at that time, and came in a variety of colors, from black, silver, beige or tan and black. These colors remain acceptable in the AKC, but European breed standards allow only the black.

 | (continued)... they are known as the “moustached little devil”. Both terms are rooted in the dog’s springy terrier nature, and the longer, wiry coat that covers the front portion of the body, shortening the further back you go.
The Affenpinscher averages 7-9 lbs, and 11 inches in height. They are typified as game dogs, bright and eager, responsive and dedicated to their masters. First bred as rat catchers, they remain a lively and loyal companion, equable of temperament, but fearless when attacked or forced into a confrontation.
